Power Of Prevention Works

I've always found it much easier to prevent certain things from happening than to fix or repair them afterwards. This applies to everything from health-related issues, to business decisions, and even personal relationships. By reminding yourself of the power of prevention and implementing its wisdom into your life, you can save yourself a great deal of grief, and, in the process, reduce some of the stress you experience.

It's easier for me, for example, to keep my weight down rather than to lose weight knowing this makes it easier for me to day NO to certain foods or to avoid excessive quantities. I simply remind myself that it's not worth the trade-off. The same applies to exercise. As hard as it can be to find the time, it's still easier to prioritize regular exercise....and stay in shape....than it is to try to get back into shape after weeks or months of nonactivity. Reminding myself of this simple truth sparks my energy level and resolve to exercise.

The same true in many business-related ventures. By attending to details up front, right from the start, you can prevent problems down the road. A background or reference check, for example, could in certain instances uncover information that would convince you not to hire someone. In this case, you might be preventing problems down the line. In addition, by practicing ongoing ethical business practices today, you create the necessary goodwill that can help you for years to come.

I've found that the idea of prevention also applies to my personal relationships....spouse, kids, and friends. These are just a few of the ways that prevention can make our lives better and easier. I'm sure that, if you think about your own life, you'll discover, as I have, the power of prevention.
